Stalls line Haga Nygata, the district's main street, on Saturdays and Sundays on all four Advent weekends – in 2026 from Saturday 28 November to Sunday 20 December, 11am–4pm. It is on a public street, so it is free to visit.

Dates and opening hours 2026

The market is held on eight days, the Saturdays and Sundays of Advent: 28–29 November, 5–6 December, 12–13 December and 19–20 December. It is open 11am–4pm on every market day. There is no market on Fridays.

What to expect

The stalls along Haga Nygata sell food and delicacies, design, crafts and Christmas presents, and there is music and things to do for children. The market is organised on behalf of Företagarna i Haga, the association of the businesses in the district.

Free – but bring a card

There is no ticket. Sweden runs on cards, and Swish – the mobile payment app most Swedes use – needs a Swedish bank account, so bring a debit or credit card for the stalls.

Getting there

Haga is about 1.6 km in a straight line from Gothenburg Central Station. Trams 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11 stop at Hagakyrkan and Järntorget, at either end of the district, and buses 25 and X3 stop at Pilgatan. From Landvetter Airport, the Flygbussarna airport coach takes about 20 minutes into the city. On trams and buses you can tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay on the card reader as you board; the drivers do not sell tickets.

More Christmas markets in Gothenburg

Liseberg, the amusement park, has four Christmas markets inside the park (with a park ticket) and is open on all eight Haga market days, so the two fit into one day out. Kronhusjul, a month of Christmas events in and around Kronhuset, is also free and a short tram ride away.

How this page is made

This page is written for visitors from abroad, not translated from the Swedish one. The dates come from the same market data as the Swedish page; the opening hours and the organiser were checked by hand on hagagoteborg.se on 27 September 2026, and the trams, airport bus and payment details on 3 October 2026. The distance from the station is calculated from the map position. When the organiser's details change in the market data, this text has to be checked and updated before the site can be rebuilt.
