Kronhusjul is not one market but a whole Christmas season in and around Kronhuset, the oldest building in Gothenburg, and the craft shops of Kronhusbodarna next door. In 2026 it runs from Wednesday 25 November to Sunday 20 December, with thirteen different events one after the other. Entry is free, and it is only about 300 metres from Gothenburg Central Station.
Thirteen events in four weeks
From week 48 to week 51 – 25 November to 20 December – thirteen events take turns at Kronhuset. Among them are a craft market, a local food market (Bonden & co.), a design market, the craft Christmas market of the art school HDK-Valand, a Christmas book fair, and a playful children's Christmas in the lane Knyckertzgränd. The organiser is Sally Bazar, working with Higab.
Opening times change from day to day
Because each event has its own hours, there is no single timetable. On most days the market opens at some point between 11am and 3pm and closes between 4pm and 7pm. Look up the day you plan to come in the programme on kronhuset.se before you go – that is the only way to be sure what is on and when.
Free entry, paying by card
Entry to Kronhuset is free; a few activities need a ticket bought in advance, and the programme says which. Sweden runs on cards, and Swish – the mobile payment app most Swedes use – needs a Swedish bank account, so bring a debit or credit card for the stalls.
Getting there
Kronhuset is on Kronhusgatan in the old city centre, with Kronhusbodarna on Postgatan alongside – about 300 metres in a straight line from Gothenburg Central Station, an easy walk. From Landvetter Airport, the Flygbussarna airport coach takes about 20 minutes and ends at the Central Station (Nils Ericson Terminalen). On the city's trams and buses you can tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay on the card reader as you board.
More Christmas markets in Gothenburg
Jul i Haga fills the cobbled Haga Nygata on the Advent weekends, also free, and Liseberg, the amusement park, has four Christmas markets inside the park (with a park ticket).
How this page is made
This page is written for visitors from abroad, not translated from the Swedish one. The dates and the programme come from the same market data as the Swedish page: the organiser, Sally Bazar, emailed the 2026 dates and programme on 20 September 2026, and they were checked against kronhuset.se on 27 September 2026. The distance from the station is calculated from the map position. The airport bus and tram tickets were checked against Swedavia and Västtrafik on 3 October 2026. When the organiser's details change in the market data, this text has to be checked and updated before the site can be rebuilt.
