Gothenburg has three Christmas markets in the city itself. Liseberg, the amusement park, runs from 14 November to 30 December 2026; Kronhusjul in Kronhuset, in the old centre, runs from 25 November to 20 December 2026; and Jul i Haga fills the cobbled Haga Nygata on Saturdays and Sundays from 28 November to 20 December 2026. Below are opening hours, tickets and directions for each, the markets just outside the city, and how to get in from Landvetter Airport.

Liseberg Christmas market 2026

Liseberg has four Christmas markets inside the park: a Tyrolean market with a Christmas pyramid and live music, an old-fashioned Christmas in Kvarteret Storgatan, a winter market by the main stage and the ice rink, and Tomtebyn, Santa's village. New for 2026 is a light show that projects the northern lights and starlight onto the buildings around the harbour area. The season opens on 14 November. In November the park is open Friday to Sunday; in December it is open Wednesday to Sunday until 13 December, then every day from 16 to 23 December and from 26 to 30 December. It is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Hours are 3–10pm on Fridays, noon–10pm on Saturdays, noon–8pm on Sundays and 3–9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays; from 20 to 23 December it is noon–9pm, and from 26 to 30 December noon–8pm. Because the markets are inside the park, you need an entrance ticket or a Liseberg pass: the ice rink, the light show and Tomtehuset are included, the rides are not. Tickets are cheaper on liseberg.se than at the gate. All stallholders have to be open on every market day, so the selection is the same whichever day you go. The north entrance is at Korsvägen (Örgrytevägen 5), served by the Korsvägen and Liseberg station stops, and the south entrance by the Liseberg Södra stop; from Gothenburg Central Station it is a 10–15 minute walk.

Jul i Haga

Jul i Haga lines Haga Nygata, the cobbled main street of the old Haga district, on all four Advent weekends – Saturdays and Sundays from 28 November to 20 December 2026, 11am–4pm. The stalls sell food, crafts and Christmas presents, and there is music and things to do for children. The market is organised on behalf of the local traders' association, Företagarna i Haga, and since it is on a public street there is no ticket. Trams 1, 3, 6, 9 and 11 stop at Hagakyrkan and Järntorget, at either end of the district, and buses 25 and X3 at Pilgatan.

Kronhusjul

Between 25 November and 20 December 2026 (weeks 48–51), Kronhuset on Kronhusgatan and the neighbouring Kronhusbodarna craft shops on Postgatan host thirteen Christmas markets with different themes, one after the other – among them a craft market, a design market, a book fair and the art school HDK-Valand's craft Christmas market. Entry is free, although a few activities need a ticket bought in advance. Opening times differ from market to market: on most days it opens between 11am and 3pm and closes between 4pm and 7pm, so check the day's programme on kronhuset.se before you go.

Just outside Gothenburg

Gunnebo Slott in Mölndal holds its market on three weekends in November (14–15, 21–22 and 28–29 November 2026): about forty exhibitors in the new kitchen garden and indoors in the shop, carriage house and joinery, with guided tours of the house and orangery for those who want them; entry was free in 2025, when the market turned 25. Gunnebo asks market visitors to come by public transport: bus 754 from Heden takes about 15 minutes to the Gunnebo park stop, 900 metres from the house. Nääs Fabriker in Tollered, where the old brick factory buildings stand by Lake Sävelången, has a Christmas market on three Advent weekends for the first time in 2026 (28–29 November, 5–6 December and 12–13 December 2026), 10am–4pm, with free entry and SEK 60 day parking; the site's own bakery, Bröd & Malt, bakes the vörtbröd (spiced rye bread) for the Swedish Christmas table. Bohus Fästning, the medieval fortress in Kungälv, and Nääs Slott in Floda hold markets on Advent weekends; their 2026 dates are not out yet.

Getting there and paying

The Flygbussarna airport coach from Landvetter takes about 20 minutes into the city and stops at Korsvägen, right by Liseberg's north entrance, before ending at the Central Station (Nils Ericson Terminalen). On trams and buses in town, tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard, or Apple Pay or Google Pay, on the card reader when you board and you have an adult ticket for zone A. You can also buy tickets in the Västtrafik To Go app, but not from the drivers on Gothenburg's buses. Liseberg is cash-free, and Sweden as a whole runs on cards. Swish, the mobile payment many Swedes use, needs a Swedish bank account, so bring a debit or credit card.

Markets with confirmed 2026 dates come first; for the rest you see when they are usually held. Most of those fall on the Advent weekends, which in 2026 are 28–29 November, 5–6 December, 12–13 December and 19–20 December. The market pages are in Swedish, but the dates, venue and map are easy to follow:

How this page is made

This page is written for visitors from abroad. Every date, opening time and price on it comes from the organiser's own website, and the travel details from the airport and transport operators; they were checked between 27 September and 3 October 2026. Nothing is fetched automatically – when an organiser publishes new dates, the page is updated by hand. Sources:
